Grimm Business!

Another art post coming soon, with fanart and pin-ups and all that jazz, but I wanted to put this up all on its own for now. Based on the Grimm story The Hare's Bride (or one variation on it anyway!), but with more BRIGHT COLOURS as is apparently my way. Thank you to Kate for lettin' me put up my images on her webspace thar.

There's something particularly spooky about the hare's eye peeking into the kitchen and his fit of rage toward the end. Thank you for sharing this; it's really lovely!

There is a certain whimsical element to your artwork in this story. The whimsical aspect is quickly lost though as the more nightmarish elements not uncommonly found in some of your pictures takes hold.

Are you trying something new when it comes to eyes? The Girl's seem markedly different than previous works.

There's something really familiar about the Hare's head in the panel where he says "Open the door!!! The wedding guests......" I can't for the life of me figure out why.

Also, I wanna punch him in the face. Cause he's a jerk.

I did try something different! I wanted to go with something a little looser. And... giant eye'd.

This is an amazing version of the story. The colours, the layout and execution - love love love. The Bride should totally star in more survival horror.

Whoa! Color me disconcerted. I love how you do the hare's transformation throughout. It makes the story visceral.

My favorite panel is the bit with the silhouetted wolves and other forest creaturelets. I love the use of color, and how it goes from drab to whimsical to RAGE. So brilliant. Also, the hare is a snazzy dresser.
